1. Accepting these Terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and CleanSlate (“CleanSlate,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing or using CleanSlate, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use CleanSlate.
2. What CleanSlate does
CleanSlate provides personal credit card tracking tools. Depending on your selected features and subscription tier, CleanSlate may help you view manually entered cards, connected cards, balances, credit limits, utilization, payment due dates, minimum payments, transactions, recent payments, institution details, reminders, and large transaction alerts.
Important: CleanSlate is a tracking and organization tool. CleanSlate does not offer bank accounts, credit cards, loans, investment accounts, payment processing, debt settlement, credit repair, or money movement.
3. CleanSlate is not financial, legal, tax, or credit advice
CleanSlate may display balances, APRs, due dates, transactions, alerts, summaries, projections, or other financial information. That information is provided for personal tracking and convenience only.
- We do not make credit decisions or lending recommendations.
- We do not guarantee that any balance, due date, transaction, APR, reminder, or projection is complete, accurate, or up to date.
- You are responsible for verifying important information with your card issuer, bank, or financial institution before taking action.
4. Accounts and security
You may need an account to use CleanSlate. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your device and account secure, and notify us if you believe your account has been compromised.
CleanSlate may use third-party authentication or identity services, such as Firebase, to help manage sign-in and account access. You are responsible for activity that occurs through your account unless caused by our failure to use reasonable security measures.
5. Linked accounts and Plaid
If you choose to link a financial account, CleanSlate uses Plaid to connect to your financial institution and retrieve read-only account, balance, liability, and transaction information. CleanSlate does not receive or store your banking username or password.
By linking an account, you authorize CleanSlate and Plaid to access and process information from that account so CleanSlate can provide app features. You may unlink connected accounts from within CleanSlate or through your financial institution where supported.
Connected card data
Connected cards may include card names, masked identifiers, balances, credit limits, available credit, APRs, minimum payments, last payment information, and next payment due dates.
Institution data
CleanSlate may display institution names, colors, logos, and identifiers when available from Plaid or your institution.
6. Manual cards
CleanSlate allows you to manually track cards by entering information such as card name, color, last four digits, balance, credit limit, minimum payment, payment due day, and APR.
You are responsible for keeping manually entered information accurate and current. Manual card information is not verified with your financial institution unless you separately link an account through Plaid.
7. Transactions, payment reminders, and alerts
CleanSlate may display connected-card transactions and classify certain transactions as payments or large transactions. CleanSlate may also send payment due reminders or transaction alerts based on your preferences, device settings, and available data.
- Reminders and alerts may be delayed, missing, duplicated, or inaccurate.
- You should not rely on CleanSlate as your only reminder to pay a bill or review account activity.
- You remain responsible for making payments on time and monitoring your accounts directly with your financial institution.
8. Subscriptions, tiers, and billing
CleanSlate may offer free and paid subscription tiers. Paid tiers may unlock additional card limits, connected-account limits, card colors, premium features, or other functionality described in the app at the time of purchase.
Subscriptions are processed through Apple’s App Store and may be managed by RevenueCat for entitlement verification. Billing, renewal, cancellation, and refund rights are generally handled by Apple under Apple’s applicable terms and policies.
Subscription access: If your subscription expires, is canceled, fails to renew, is refunded, or cannot be verified, CleanSlate may reduce or remove access to paid features. We may continue to retain account data as described in our Privacy Policy unless you delete it or request deletion.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse CleanSlate or help anyone else misuse it. You may not:
- Use CleanSlate for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, or harmful activity.
- Attempt to access another person’s account or financial data without permission.
- Interfere with, reverse engineer, scrape, overload, disrupt, or compromise CleanSlate or its systems.
- Bypass subscription limits, entitlement checks, security controls, rate limits, or access restrictions.
- Upload, submit, or transmit malicious code or misleading information.
10. Third-party services
CleanSlate depends on third-party services to operate certain features. These may include Plaid for financial account connectivity, Apple for App Store purchases and device functionality, RevenueCat for subscription entitlement management, Firebase for authentication or infrastructure, and push notification services for alerts.
Third-party services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. CleanSlate is not responsible for third-party services, financial institutions, app stores, networks, devices, or operating systems that we do not control.
11. Ownership and license
CleanSlate and its software, design, branding, content, features, and related materials are owned by CleanSlate or its licensors. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use CleanSlate for your own personal, non-commercial use.
You retain ownership of information you provide to CleanSlate, but you grant us permission to process it as needed to provide, secure, maintain, improve, and support the service, consistent with our Privacy Policy.
12. Availability, updates, and feature changes
We may update, improve, limit, suspend, discontinue, or change CleanSlate or any feature at any time. Some features may be unavailable due to maintenance, errors, third-party outages, Plaid or financial institution limitations, subscription verification issues, device settings, notification permissions, or network problems.
We are not required to provide any specific feature forever, and we may change feature limits, tiers, or eligibility rules going forward.
13. Disclaimers
CleanSlate is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, and reliability.
We do not guarantee that CleanSlate will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that financial information shown in the app will always match your financial institution’s records.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, CleanSlate and its owners, employees, contractors, service providers, and affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, missed payments, fees, interest, credit impacts, or financial losses arising from your use of or inability to use CleanSlate.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability will be limited to the greater of the amount you paid to use CleanSlate in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim or $50.
15. Suspension and termination
You may stop using CleanSlate at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if we believe you violated these Terms, created risk for CleanSlate or others, used the service unlawfully, or if continued access would expose us or others to liability.
After termination, some provisions of these Terms will continue to apply, including sections about ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, privacy, and any terms that by their nature should survive.
16. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how CleanSlate collects, uses, stores, and shares information. By using CleanSlate, you also agree that we may process information as described in the Privacy Policy.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice as required by law or through the app.
Your continued use of CleanSlate after updated Terms become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
